Working Groups

BEST Network is comprised of two parts, each of which is covered by a number of working groups. Thus, an application oriented part (WG1-4) and a topical part (WG5-7), are composed of the following working groups:

- WG1 Immigration and Border Control
- WG2 Emerging applications: access control, commercial services and surveillance
- WG3 European Registered Traveller programs
- WG4 Biometrics in eID and electronic transactions

The disciplines that will link into and interact with WG1-4 are:

- WG5 Training and Education
- WG6 Testing and Certification
- WG7 Ethical, Legal and Socio-technical aspects

WG1-4 will focus on end user requirements, use cases and best practices. The activities of WG5-7 will interlink with those of WG1-4.

Networking is prioritised in the BEST NETWORK by tasking individuals from different WGs to interact with people in other WGs, according to the application area and discipline. This will make sure that all application areas receive dedicated attention from stakeholders in different disciplines and that all disciplines can target their work to the specific application areas as described under WG1-4.

WG0 contains all the project management, coordination, communication and dissemination issues.
