WG 3: European Registered Travellers programs

WG3 European Registered Traveller (RT) Programs

A European RT Program is a program where airline passengers can subscribe to obtain services that will make the check-in, immigration, security and boarding processes (incl. luggage handling) more convenient and faster when entering or exiting European borders.
The increasing volume and complexity of international air travel causes a complex and increasingly hard to handle flow of travellers in airports. The successful first fast track border control system at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (Privium), and other airports in Europe followed soon after by developing their own fast track systems. All these systems are based on biometrics, but none of these systems are interoperable with each other. It is understood that common requirements and European cooperation will lead to a successful European wide system. By bringing together airports and their associated governments, a process will be facilitated through which the development of common requirements can progress.
WG3 will liaise with the ACI and aims at building on the political views of the ACI in order to developan operational paper on European RT. This makes WG3 of BEST network as discussion platform for the business case on European RT.
